Caitlin and Garrett…Where should I start when talking about these two!? Maybe I should begin with their epic winter-themed Lake Arrowhead wedding? Or maybe the quick audible to the Catalina Island wedding? Or the next change in the gameplan to the Laguna Beach wedding? Yeah these two are nuts and have been causing havoc to my schedule…. but I still love them! Honestly, I wasn’t sure we would ever get a concrete wedding date and engagement session penciled in but last week the stars aligned and we rocked their engagement photos in Laguna Beach, hitting up random places throughout the beach city before closing things up at Heisler Park. We opened up the engagement session with beers at a little Mexican restaurant overlooking the ocean where naturally I opted for a local IPA brew. Garrett went with the Stella, another good choice because Stella is a non-GMO beer and 127x more tasteful than the Bud Light, a drink commonly consumed by the day-drinking college student or senior golfer on Sunday at the course. Caitlin threw a curve ball into the drink order with some weird thing I never even heard of so thankfully we were in the trust tree..in the nest. Seriously Caitlin!? What the hell was that you ordered!? Anyway, this session was honestly a blast and I really loved the final product. But don’t trust me or take my slightly overweight and intoxicated word for it, simply look at the engagement photos for yourself and be the judge. If you hate them drop a comment. If you like them drop a comment. And Mom, if you are reading this, I want some real constructive criticism. The whole, “These look nice” bullshit isn’t going to fly anymore 🙂
For Photographers: So I totally mixed in some new presets for this engagement session, rocking a combo of Tribe Red Leaf Fernweh and LxC presets. Normally, I am not a fan of desaturated tones for a number of reasons, the primary one being that they are more popular than the Von Dutch trucker hat in the early 2000s and you don’t want your art to be in a ugly trend like that. But I found them pretty useful on a cloudy day so just call me Ashton Kutcher I guess.
The above kick ass engagement photographs were captured in Heisler Park in Laguna Beach, California on 9/20/16 by Palm Springs Wedding Photographer Ryan Horban. To view more Laguna Beach engagement photos swing by my personal blog and check out a session I did with Brittany and Tyler last year!
