Mission San Luis Rey Wedding Photos – Amanda & Trevor

Oceanside Wedding Photography

One of the most unique wedding venue locations in Southern California is the historic Mission San Luis Rey. Founded in 1798 and known as “King of the Missions,” Mission San Luis Rey is the largest of all 21 California missions. In fact, it was the rich history and  distinctive architecture, featuring a blend of Spanish, Moorish, and Mexican styles that convinced Trevor and Amanda to have their wedding there! We started the wedding day at the Mission before making a very brief stop off at the beach to capture some wedding portraits. After that, we headed to Trevor’s parents house for the wedding reception. Below are some of the photographs from that day.

Photographing Weddings At Mission San Luis Rey

As you walk through, imagine the countless weddings celebrated in this remarkable space. The mission’s church offers a breathtaking backdrop for such special occasions. In fact, it features grand archways and intricate wooden doors, creating a romantic and timeless atmosphere. Outside, the lush gardens provide another perfect setting for wedding ceremonies. Here, you’ll find vibrant flowers and historic fountains, setting the scene for unforgettable moments. However, there is one thing you should know in terms of wedding photography. And that is the wedding venue does not allow flash photography in the actual church. Therefore, it can be super dark and a little tricky to get super sharp photos without digital grain. Make sure you communicate this to the bride and groom beforehand, and try to use some AI tools to remove grain in post given you will ahve to shoot at very high ISO.

Wedding photos were captured at Mission San Luis Rey and reception photos were snapped up at the home of Trevor’s parents in Oceanside, California. We partied all night and I am sure their was an abundance of hangovers the next morning. But I am pretty sure all good nights come with bad mornings?
