For years I have received emails and Facebook messages about Temecula family photos, but I have never really been inspired to be a family photographer. When I thought of family photos I basically imagined people in some field dressed in similar outfits and colors. The whole thing just felt emotionless and empty to me. But since my daughter Vienna was born last year I found myself constantly taking photos of her and documenting the details of her life. I have truly enjoyed photographing her and the photos I have of Vienna and my wife are the most important images I have photographed. So I began to understand why people were reaching out to me for family photos and decided I would offer this service on one condition: that the photo shoot was real, authentic and genuine. I did not want all sorts of lame poses. I wanted to photograph real life. Kids dressed in their normal day clothes and simply having fun being young. I wanted to capture the interaction of a family with their children.
Shanon was one of those people who reached out to me within days of me announcing I would start taking on family photos. As a photographer herself, Shanon has been documenting her daughter Alex’s life since day one but she did not have many photos of her with her daughter. Shanon and Alex are from Dallas but were going to be in Southern California for the 4th of July so while on this little break from Texas they came over and visited this Temecula photographer and we put together a quick little family photo lifestyle session at the Splash Park. After the Splash Park we stopped by a nearby hill/nature area about a mile away where we were lucky enough to come across a lady who was walking her horse. Alex loves horses so this was a pretty big deal. Then we finished the photo session off with another short stop at a different park until it was dark.
These photographs of Alex, Shanon and their interaction together made me smile the entire time while editing. I love these photographs and hope they do too.
The above family photos were captured at the Temecula Splash Park located off Margarita Road in Temecula, California. This park is actually really cool because it offers stuff for disabled kids to enjoy, is located near some tennis courts with other cool things going on and of course is 100% free! I would totally recommend anyone with kids to check it out but be warned that the place can get a little crowded so mid-week is probably the best time to go for a visit!
